Sensational Sofas & Interiors going out of business after 37 years

Family-owned and operated retailer to begin total liquidation January 16

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (January 14, 2026) — Sensational Sofas & Interiors will close permanently after providing Memphis and surrounding communities with high-quality home furnishings for 37 years. The final sale for the family-owned company opens to the public January 16.
Sensational Sofas & Interiors was founded in 1989. Ten years later, Roger and Sandy Phillips bought the company with a vision for creating a store that offered custom, high-end furniture and attentive customer service. Opening its doors originally in Germantown’s upscale Carrefour shopping center, the retailer earned a loyal following by offering customers the ability to personalize nearly every detail of their furniture from fabric selections and cushion comfort to size and style.

In 2007, the Phillips’ daughter, Alexandra Quinn, joined the business, helping guide the company into its next chapter while preserving its service-first philosophy. During this time, Sensational Sofas & Interiors expanded its offerings to include interior design services and ready-to-deliver showroom pieces, eventually relocating to a larger space on Ridgeway Road to better serve its growing customer base. The store’s commitment to craftsmanship and personalized service was consistently recognized by the community, earning it the “Memphis Most” Favorite Furniture Store award from The Commercial Appeal for seven consecutive years. Sensational Sofas & Interiors now enters its final chapter as Quinn plans to step away from the retail business and focus on her family.

“We have loved serving the Memphis community for almost four decades,” said Quinn. “Thank you for letting us be a part of your homes and families.”
